Ras el Hanout translates as "head of the house" or "master of the shop" and is part of the standard repertoire of every Moroccan spice merchant. The name probably derives from the fact that the preparation of this blend, consisting of up to 25 spices, is reserved for the chef or master of the house.
Our Ras el Hanout is a true explosion of flavors, combining oriental spice, pleasant sweetness, and savory notes, rounded off with a subtle spiciness. It's perfect for spicy meat dishes, savory stews, for livening up couscous, and, of course, for any vegetable.
P&S Ras el Hanout is produced in our spice factory according to meticulously refined and closely guarded recipes before being coarsely ground and placed in our ceramic pots. This preserves the valuable essential oils and aromas. The mixture should be roasted in a pan shortly before use and then ground in a mortar and pestle as desired.
Worth knowing:There's no exact recipe for Ras el Hanout. The origins of this blend lie in the numerous spice bazaars in North Africa, where each spice merchant tried to attract paying customers to their stalls with their own special and exquisite blend.
