Description
Our black Malabar pepper comes directly from the Indian Pepper Coast and is one of the finest pepper varieties grown in the highlands of India's Malabar Coast. The peppercorns have a slightly greenish hue and are very aromatic and hot. Combined with the Tellicherry pepper It is considered one of the best varieties in the world.
It is particularly valued for its pungent and full-bodied aroma, which harmonizes wonderfully with its fruity, ethereal freshness, developing a pleasantly warm spiciness. Our Malabar pepper can be used anywhere that requires a peppery and ethereal freshness, such as in salads, with grilled dishes such as steaks or poultry, or as a finishing touch to blanched vegetables.
When crushed, you'll notice a slight green tinge inside the peppercorn. This is a sign of freshness and craftsmanship; pepper harvesting and processing is still done by hand.
Worth knowing:
The pepper plant originates from the hinterland of the Malabar Coast in southwest India and was already mentioned in Sanskrit literature, which replaced Vedic literature around 1000 BC. Indian missionaries spread it throughout Southeast Asia during the first millennium AD. The Malabar Coast is also called the Pepper Coast because it is considered the cradle of pepper.
